Dhaulli Giri, The hillside of Dhaulli Giri or Dhauli is situated on the banks of Daya River and is few kilometers apart from the state capital of Odisha.8 km south of the capital city Bhubaneswar in the state of Odisha. Dhaulli Giri is highly applauded for its Ashokan Edicts that were embossed by the famous preacher of peace. Once the battle field of the famous Kalinga war this place holds vast historic significance in Odisha Tourism. According legends, the Kalinga War so blood-curdling that Daya River had gone as a result of the bloodbath that the war resulted into. It was after seeing such an awful sight that the ruler gave away violence and started to follow the path of peace. Owing to the keen efforts of Ashoka, Dhaulli Giri became popularly known as a Buddhist centre. Ashoka founded numerous pillars, chaityas and stupas in the hillside that are visited by travelers in large numbers.
Shiva TempleThe Shiva Temple was erected in honor of Lord Shiva. Located in the Dhaulli Giri hills, this temple is flocked with devotees who offer milk and sweets to the Lord on the eve of Shiva Ratri.
