The Brahmeswar Temple Bhubaneshwar was built in honor of Lord Shiva and is a famous Hindu temple in the state of Odisha. Constructed in the 9th century, the temple boasts intricate inside both in the interiors as well as exteriors of the temple. The temple was built by King Udyotakesari’s mother Kolavati Devi during the Somavamsi king’s 18th ruling year.

Architecture

The Brahmeshwar temple is an epitome of the temple architecture of the state. Built employing the traditional method of wood carving, the temple is an excellent piece of anachronism. The temple has two connecting buildings as part of its prime structure. Besides a shivling (the main deity, the sanctum also houses idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Shiva.

The Brahmeswara Temple is highly applauded for its artistic sculptures that can be seen on the temple’s tower and porch. While the interiors are adorned with tantric images, the exteriors are decorated with carvings and figures of Hindu gods and goddesses, religious scenes and birds & animals.

The temple being a fabulous piece of art is visited by numerous travelers who are on their Odisha trip.
